Toys
Concept: The winter wonder land of fun and light gravity. You are snow spright that can glide across ice and terrain like it was nothing. You also have superb jumping abilities that allows you to get to places at blazing speeds.
Time/setting: The setting is a snowy wilderness that you live in amongst the many other creatures. Time is irrelevant as you do not experience time like mortals.
Obstacles: You will have fun snow constructs that you can barrel through and slide. You'll have to jump from snowflake to snowflake to get to your next play place.
Concept: You are traversing this major network of dwarven mines and dungeons, but the dwarves set a trap that you fell right into. They hexed you by giving you limited vision and you will have to traverse the network with a certain field of view.
Time: the setting will of course be dwarven mines and dungeons. The time period will be old fantasy.
Obstacles: The major obstacle one would have to overcome is the lack of vision. The other big obstacle is the maze like dungeons. There will also be triggered traps everywhere.
Concept: The game is called "Tower" and you have this cube that is your only tool to traverse the tower. In this particular instance the cube allows you to fly through the levels of this particular tower.
Time/Period: I would like to keep it as a gothic futuristic setting. one person has a gravity gun going through this gothic tower.
Obstacles: The cube would be able to activate and open doors if you find the key hole. There will be spike traps that one will have to overcome.

When i used to go to an arcade I was usually drawn in by the demos that the street fighter, soul calibur, and the tekken game machines usually put up to attract people. The game demos usually had that wow affect when it show these massive chain combos that totally obliterated the other characters. It was extremely awesome to see. Here are a few videos I found to show you what I mean.
some videos cant be posted for some odd reason so here is a link.

Crates
For crates I wanted to do something completely different when creating it. I wanted to reflect the world I was building. So i looked at references online. I was ultimately bored with the generic crates that were popping up. Then looking back at my level I thought wouldn't be cool if a crate can look like a viking house. So I searched the web for viking homes and here is what I came up with.
I also made a little hammer for the collectables when breaking the crate.

Barrel BOMBS!!!
I've come up with three different ideas for things to blow up. One may only be a barrel, but the other 2 are just as cool. In games I've played in the past I have seen many exploding objects. There has been crystals that have exploded, land mines, barrels, the whole 9, and I have decided to make all three. I've gathered up a lot of reference for the crystal bomb in particular.
For the barrel I tried to go through a more viking route, but with a touch of modern.
I saw underwater explosives in a movie once and I thought they were really cool. I did some research on the looks and here is what I found.

Game Intro
Need For Speed Underground 2 had a pretty cool opening intro to the first race. The game had some awesome shots. There were some cool sepia clips of the cars drifting and doing small jumps.
The video has a bunch of cool game intros and reviews that has great material for ideas that we all can possibly take and use for our game levels.

Paper View of the map
I based my map on a norse rune "Dagas". I thought it would be a cool idea for a story, like lets say you have to complete the course five times to charge the gigantic rune. Then when the rune is charged a portal is opened to another realm. The thing is you'll have obstacles because you do have permission from the gods to traverse between realms. Each rune will have a charge point and you'll have to hit each charge point to fully and correctly charge the rune. This course may look simple, but it has giant hammers crashing down on the course to impede your progress. There will also be collapsable horn towers that'll try to signal back up to stop you. The color scheme I chose will consist of blues and cool colors like the spirit world of the game called Legacy of cain. My concept statement is to endure is open up a gateway to freedom.
